Google PageRank update

Published on 16 May 2009

It appears that Google may have increased the regularity of its PageRank updates. Since February we've seen a significant change on a number of the sites that we work with. Many of these sites have gone up one point, and upon further investigation it looks like we are not the only ones to experience this.

Apparently the actual update hapeended near the end of December 2008, so many people will have seen changes on the search engines during the early stages of 2009. Unfortunately, we don't think everyone is going to benefit from the changes and there are many sites that we believe have actually taken a drop in PageRank.

The sites we noticed the biggest improvement on are those for which we've been concentrating on with off-page and on-page SEO, as well as improving loading speed with valid xhtml and cross browser compliance improvements.
